Morning Announcements for Tuesday, April 30th

Lady Chargers softball fell to Vermilion last night 11-6.  Abby Cloud had 2 hits with a solo home run and Peyton Bissell added an inside-the-park home run.

The tennis team beat Calvert on Monday 4-1.  Winning at singles were Parker Campbell, Noah Proctor, and Jonah Main. Winning at doubles was the team of Keira Keoghan/Sam McClester. The team is now 10-4.

The Lady Chargers competed at the Margaretta Invite on Friday. Top performances for the Chargers came from Grace Anderson, who placed 2nd in the 3200m run and was in the 3rd place 4x8 with teammates H. Chaput, Riser, and B. Houser. Zoey Corfman was 4th in the 400 and 4th place on the 4x4 team with teammates H. Chaput, Weilnau, and Berckmueller. H. Chaput also placed 4th in the 800 and Cumston was 4th in the high jump. 

The Lady Chargers placed 3rd at the Erie County Track Meet. Zoey Corfman won the 400m dash and was a part of the 2nd place 4x8 (H. Chaput, G. Anderson, M. Weilnau) and 2nd place 4x4 (H. Chaput, G. Anderson, I. Berckmueller). Katie Cumston took advantage of a tiebreaker opportunity and set a new PR, clearing 5' in high jump for the win. Grace Anderson won the mile. Ingrid Berckmueller was 2nd in the 100 and 3rd in the 800. Haley Chaput was 3rd in the 400. Lily Risner was 4th in the mile. The Chargers compete again on Thursday at Bellevue. 

The Boys track team placed 4th in the Erie County Track meet. Trayvon WIlliams placed 1st in the long jump and the 200 both with PRs of 22' 5-1/4" and 21.88 seconds. Trevor Leimeister placed 4th in the 100 and 3rd in the 200. Aiden Reeder won the 400 and was also part of the 3rd place 4x1 relay team of Jose Serna Amaya, Trevor Leimeister, Aiden Reeder, and Trayvon Williams. Logan Facemire placed 5th in the 800 with a new PR and Jackson Michaelis won the mile. Quentin Cox placed 2nd in the 2 mile and Colin Butler placed 5th in the 300 Hurdles. The 4x8 team of Chase King, Everett Gfell, Jacoby Valimont, and Jackson Michaelis placed 2nd while Jace Jeremay and Karl Kromer placed 2nd and 5th in pole vault. J Williams placed 7th in shot and 5th in Discus while Corbin Thayer placed 8th in shot and Jack Woodward placed 6th in Discus. Great job guys! The team will compete Thursday at the Bellevue Invitational.

The varsity baseball team scored 4 runs in the first inning, including a solo home run by Davin Wendt, and held on to beat Vermilion 5-3.  Marcus Medina had a triple and a single, and Cole Leimeister had 2 RBIs.  Blake Simon pitched 5 strong innings to get the win and Abe Hermes struck out 3 in 2 innings of relief.

The JV baseball team beat Vermilion 12-0 in 5 innings.  Coltyn Meagrow pitched a complete game 3 hitter with 5 strikeouts.  Evan Perry led the offense with 3 hits.  Chaz Smith had a double and single.

Petitions are now available in the high school office for students wishing to run for a class office position or student council.

The deadline to purchase a senior ad for the yearbook has been extended to May 3rd.  Please consider purchasing one.  See Mrs. Roan or a member of the yearbook staff with any questions!

The Melon Festival Queens contest is for high school girls entering their junior or senior year at Edison High School.  It is a scholarship program where the Queen and her court get the opportunity to travel around Ohio and represent our town and the Melon Festival!  Any future junior or senior girl who is interested in running please contact Mandi Richards, Queen coordinator at 419-602-3245

For anyone interested in the CBI program for next year, please come to the meeting during the Charger Period this week in room 303.
